A teacher's impact

Recruiting outstanding staff is one of the key responsibilities which will not only make or break a school but our children’s future as well.

We all remember that very special teacher who we respected, the one who helped us achieve the grades we needed. Equally, we all remember the one, from an inspirational point of view, who didn’t make the grade.

The relationship between a child and his or her teacher is vitally important.

This amusing story tells of what happens when the relationship isn’t good

A little girl was talking with her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because, even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
Trying to be clever, the teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you can ask him then can’t you."

Hopefully the days of teachers like this have gone, leaders look for passionate and inspirational teachers when recruiting outstanding staff.
