HEAD - Coopersale Hall School

We are delighted to announce that Mr Paul Wilson has been appointed as the next Head of Coopersale Hall School from September 2024. Paul has spent 9 years teaching at a variety of schools, before his current role at St Nicholas School in Old Harlow. Whilst at St Nick’s he has been Head of English, E-Learning Coordinator, Assistant Head (Academic) and Deputy Head (Academic and Operational). Mr Wilson was Interim Head between 2021 and 2022, during which time he oversaw a school inspection that awarded ‘Excellent’ judgements in all areas. He is also currently studying for the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH).

HEAD - Polwhele House School

We are pleased to announce that Emma Edwards has been appointed as Head of Polwhele School from September 2024. She has educational experience of all age ranges from the nursery to senior school pupils and is currently the founding Head of Prep and Vice Principal at Wotton House International School. Earlier in her career she was the founding Head of the Pre-Prep at the Maynard School, Exeter. Emma is extremely passionate about what Polwhele offers the children at present and has many exciting ideas of how to expand on these to create further opportunities for them to grow as individuals and develop their character in preparation for their late teenage years and beyond.  

Head of Admissions & Marketing - The Oratory School

We are thrilled to announce that Sally Whitson joined The Oratory School, Reading, in January 2024 as Head of Admissions and Marketing. Sally moves into the independent education sector from her role as Group Chief Marketing Officer for Ticketer. She boasts over 23 years’ sales and marketing experience across a variety of well-known brands, is a qualified coach, a qualified member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, and is passionate about providing children with the best possible opportunities in life to thrive. Sally will be a significant asset to the school and we wish her every success.  

HEAD - The Pilgrims’ School

We are pleased Tim Butcher, currently Head of the Prep School and Deputy Head at Hallfield School Trust in Edgbaston has been appointed Head of The Pilgrims' School. He will take up his new post in September 2023. His love for the Pilgrims’ community is clear and born out of having attended Pilgrims’ as a boy (becoming Head Quirister) and then returning to teach at the school as Head of History early in his career.

Tim has the skills, the passion and the determination to lead the school which will continue to make it an exciting and vibrant place to be. 

HEAD – St. Francis’ College

Headspace Academics is delighted to congratulate James Nichols BA, MA, PGCE on his appointment as Head of St Francis’ College. Having supported the Governors of St. Francis’ College in their search, we were delighted that the school attracted such a strong field of credible candidates. However, James won the role due to his drive and ambition, coupled with his professional and personal qualities and experience. We wish James every success in his new role as Head of St Francis’ College when the school returns in September.

HEAD - Stafford Grammar School

We are delighted that Mr Nick Pietrek has been appointed to lead the school from September 2022. He will be moving from Thorpe House School where he has made a significant difference over his time there. Previously he was Deputy Head at Birkdale School. During his time there, he completed his Masters in Educational Leadership and Management at Nottingham University. He was appointed from a strong and extensive list of applicants and will be a significant asset to the school.

HEAD – Moor Park

We are delighted that Brendan Brady, currently headmaster of St Andrew’s Preparatory School, Grahamstown, South Africa, has been appointed to lead Moor Park from September. He comes with enormous experience, this will be his fifth headship of a prep school. Brendan has enormous strategic ability combined with a warmth of personality that will slot in well into the family atmosphere at Moor Park.

HEAD - Bedstone College

We are very pleased to announce Toby Mullins as the new Head of Bedstone College, Shropshire. Through Headspace Academics, Toby has been fulfilling an interim role for the school. 

Toby’s Headship experience spans over 22 years in a wide variety of settings, from boarding to large secondary academies. A canny business acumen saw Toby specialise in leadership, new venture development, managing change and project management, skills Bedstone College seek as they continue to consolidate their strengths and look to the future. We wish Toby all the very best in his new role.

INTERIM PRINCIPAL - Welbeck College

Welbeck College situated near Loughborough is seeking to appoint an Interim Principle to lead an already high performing and successful institution during the final terms of its operation and until its closure (as announced in March by the Government following the cessation of the Defence Technical Officer and Engineer Entry Scheme (DTOEES).

The new Principal will have strong academic credentials and a proven track record of headship at secondary level and is likely to have held a significant leadership role within a boarding school.

HEAD TEACHER - Kensington Park School

After an extensive search and a very strong list of candidates, Kensington Park School and its Governing Board are delighted to announce that Mr Peter Middleton has been appointed as the new Headmaster.

Peter joins KPS from Welbeck College where he has been Principal since 2013. Peter was educated at Radley College before reading Chemistry at Oriel College, Oxford. He will be joined at KPS by his wife Clare, an Educational Psychologist, and their three children.

HEAD TEACHER - Great Ballard

We are pleased to announce that the school have appointed Matthew King as the new Head Teacher at Great Ballard school. Matt was appointed from an extremely strong field of candidates and is a very experienced Head. His first Headship was at Pennthorpe School, Rudgwick this was followed by a Headship at Framlingham College Prep School giving him experience in an ‘all through’ school. The school is about to embark on a very exciting phase of its development and Matt is well placed to lead it.

Myco commenced her new role in January 2020, joining The Astrum Group from Cumnor House School where she had been the Head of Admissions for the past 2 years. We are pleased to announce that the Governors have appointed Mr Lee Thomas as Head of Stafford Grammar School from September 2019. He is currently Head of the Senior School and knows the whole school extremely well. He has an English MA/BA from Oxford (Somerville College) and an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management. He is an excellent appointment.

Duncan joins Canary Wharf from The Royal School Haslemere where he was the Director of Personal Development and Head of Senior Boys. He comes with extensive experience in education and the charity sector. He was appointed from an extremely strong field of candidates.

We are delighted to announce that Jonathon Anderson has been appointed as Head of Clayesmore Prep from January 2020. Jonathon is currently Deputy Head at Westbourne House Prep School in Chichester where he has been for 8 years. During his time there, Jonathon has been a boarding housemaster and Director of Studies as well. He will be joining Clayesmore along with his wife, Hester, formerly a teacher of A Level RS and Philosophy, and Head of Pre-Prep at Exeter Cathedral School.
