Tuesday’s Top Tip - Glass half full?
Tuesday’s Top Tip
“People who wonder whether the glass is half empty or half full are missing the point – The glass is refillable” – Simon Sinek
Exceptional leaders exhibit two easily identifiable qualities: persistence and perseverance.
Persistence is the choice to continue something, in spite of difficulty and opposition.
Perseverance is the continuation of commitment through action in spite of the lack of success. It is also the ability to overcome the repetitiveness of problems from difficult situations.
Anything can be persistent; only people (or something with a will) can persevere.
When it comes to accomplishment, perseverance and persistence are two key characteristics. Together, these are the twin building blocks of success.
If you want to set yourself apart from your competition you need to learn the art of refilling your glass.
Simply learning the importance of, and mastering the practices of, persistence and perseverance is not enough. It is vital to understand the difference between these two characteristics and see how they fit together. Once that understanding is reached, it is critical to put these traits into practice daily. Persistence is directing a team again and again until excellence becomes ingrained. Persistence is working a plan even when you don’t see immediate results.
Persistence is not giving up, or giving in, or giving way.
Think of it like this: persistence is the athlete, working out each morning in the gym. This athlete continues to get up, get to the gym, and work his or her routine, even when tired or when a schedule is interrupted.
Perseverance is the lifestyle of working out week after week, month after month, year after year; therefore, refilling his glass, time and time again.
